Coal price of $150 a tonne key to new Coast mine

THE Government is counting on a coking-coal price of $US150 a tonne in estimates about the economic benefits of proposed new mining on the Buller Plateau.
Economic development minister Simon Bridges is considering a plan to allow new open-cast mines at Whareatea West and Deep Creek, on the Buller Plateau north of Westport.
