THE COUNTRY'S first hybrid energy-powered water monitoring buoy has been launched by Meridian Energy and the Cawthron Institute.
Cawthron senior marine scientist Paul Barter says the buoy is collecting information on weather, ambient light, and water salinity and temperature and sending it back to the institute.
