Storing carbon in forests is risky and should be used to meet no more than a fifth of New Zealand’s emissions reductions, says a group of prominent scientists and other New Zealanders.

The Wise Response Group also wants to see the establishment of a climate commission, the abolition of the one-for-two provision, and carbon prices to rise to at least $25 a tonne, and to eventually be replaced by a carbon charge.
