Climate Minister James Shaw tried to put a price on greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture from next year, according to fellow Green Cabinet minister Eugenie Sage.
Changes to the Emissions Trading Scheme passed this year mean the sector – responsible for nearly half New Zealand greenhouse gas emissions – will enter the scheme in 2025 if it hasn’t managed to come up with a viable alternative by 2022.
