PARTS OF THE tourism industry are so ill-informed about what climate change could do to New Zealand that they think the sector could actually benefit from it, a new report says.
“The need for such awareness (of the ‘very real’ threats of climate change) is all the more important as many in the sector are complacent and remain upbeat about large numbers of tourists continuing to arrive in the country, and some rather naively believing that climate ravages elsewhere could drive tourists to New Zealand,” it says.
