POLITICAL PROTESTS this week over fart taxes and water charges are at odds with research showing the agricultural sector knows it has to pay for its pollution.

About 500 farmers held a rally in Labour leader Jacinda Ardern’s hometown Morrinsville on Monday – and even dragged out the tractor National Party leader drove up the steps of Parliament in a 2005 protest over a proposed carbon tax.
