National, Labour, the Green Party and Act have not yet released their policies, but we ran a ruler over their public statements, along with the policies that have been released by New Zealand First, the Maori Party and The Opportunities Party, to look at some key issues:
- What they would do with the Emissions Trading Scheme.
- Their approach to dealing with biological emissions from agriculture, which make up nearly half New Zealand’s total emissions.
- Whether they support the establishment of a climate commission, carbon budgeting and the proposed Zero Carbon Act.
- The emissions reduction targets they would set for New Zealand.
