UN launches new coalition to promote renewable energy

The launch of a new coalition spearheaded by the United Nations Environment Programme will focus on boosting renewable energy usage around the world.

Called the 1 Gigaton Coalition, it was formed in response to a dearth in measurements and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions reductions which, UNEP explained, would help to encourage the uptake of energy efficiency policies and renewable energy technologies.
