Low prices way out for pre-90 foresters

Record-low carbon prices could see hundreds of thousands of hectares of pre-1990 plantation forest cleared or converted to post-1989 forest.

The cost of the carbon obligation incurred from clearing a hectare of pre-1990 forest has fallen from $20,000 a hectare two years ago to just $200 today.
