NZ yet to decide on Kyoto stance

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is working towards an agreement to sign on to the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, set to start on January 1 – and the rule changes could have an impact on our Emissions Trading Scheme.

It is currently uncertain as to whether New Zealand will sign on to the CP2, and if we do, to what extent will we will agree domestically on the new rule changes.
