Past failures put pressure on emissions deadlines

GLOBAL FAILURE to address climate change a decade ago means emissions must now drop at 7 per cent a year to meet the Paris Agreement, prompting scientists to call for the world to switch into crisis mode.

“The past decade of political failure on climate change has cost us all dear,” German climatologist Professor Niklas Höhne and others say in an opinion piece published today in Nature.
