Ten years ago, New Zealanders were in support of signing up to the second part of the Kyoto Protocol.

The first part – known as the first commitment period – was due to expire in 2012.

In April 2009, a survey of 2851 people showed 67 per cent supported New Zealand signing up to the second commitment period, to run from 2013 to 2020.
